What's the point have having burn proof, it doesn't work I have had to Buffer under runs in a row!

What's the use of simulating a write (test mode) and then if successful, write. The test was successful the real thing had Buffer under run.

What the hell is the use.

How do you prevent that [-peep-]! I have an IBM 60GXP for god's sake, how fast does the hard disk have to be, to write 16x!!!!!!!

I can't see the jumper settings without unscrewing the drives is there a utility which tells what my IDE config is?

Thanks.

At bootup, you should see a section saying Primary Master, Primary Slave, Secondary Master, and Secondary Slave. Beside each you should see what device is connected.

This is probably too obvious but I'll say it anyway.

Make sure you have the Buffer Underun protection enabled, just in case you accidentally disabled it.

Hi there,

My HDD is IDE 0
My DVD is IDE 1
My CDR is IDE 2
My ZIP250 IDE 3

I use Roxio WinOnCD 3.8 there's an option which says 'prevent buffer under runs' and I tick it.

Win2k tells me all DMAs enabled and HDD is Ultra DMA.

Well it was a thought.

What kind of CDs are you burning, audio or data? Are you burning on the fly? If you are burning audio on the fly is the DAE speed of your DVD up to the task?

The only other thing I can think of is antivirus software. Did you try turning it off while burning CDs.

OOOOO ZIPDRIVE!
unplug the zip drive, check that DMA is enabled under windows, then try a burn.
