western digital special edition

am i going mad or was there something a few weeks back about Western digital releasing a special edition harddisk with even more than 8mb of cache? if i remember correctly it was supposed to be 20% faster or something?

I need a 1.5 Ghz Athlon + 512mb ddr ram to write emails......honestly

The special edition is the 8mb cache. The normal ones come with 2mb....

They have a 80, 100 and 120gig with 8mb cache buffer. The newest is the 80.

I have just ordered 2 WD special edition 120 Gig for raid 0. I will let you know the result when I get it.

Any chance you can also try the single set-up for tests?

Maybe HD Tach, Sandra etc.

Would be nice to finally have info on these drives. I can't afford them right now, and I might as well encourage others to be crusaders.
