Memory bandwidth measured in...?

Is mem bandwidth like 2.1GB/sec, measured in bytes or bits?
If it's in bits, I may have been so dumb ever since, and I must have missed out on a lot of info here.... If that is the case too, it would mean that Athlon bandwidth is only 250megs/sec, compared to P4 at 400 MBs?

It's in bytes. Gigabytes, not gigabits.

I know and this where confusion comes, some people write the bytes in lower case and that is what triggered confusion to me.
