There are new Vortex 2 drivers available from Windows Update. Get them while they're hot

Swwweeeet! Are those the ones you use for Windows XP? The sound kept cutting out on me, even after troubleshooting it.

Edit: I take it back...how come I didn't see them? I tried in both Windows 2000 AS and Windows XP Pro. :frown:

I don't know, someone posted on the HardOCP forums that there were new ones that came out a few days ago. I don't have either of my Vortex 2s installed, so I haven't used any drivers.

Sound cutting out was caused by one of two things: poor quality Win2k BETA drivers (supposedly fixed by MS for XP), and VIA chipset's PCI latency issue (which also affected the Live! souncard series).

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

For the PCI latency issue, I used George Breese's PCI Latency Patch 0.19, but that didn't help either (in Windows XP). In Win2K, so far everything's cool.
