well it depends on what you want to do with the it

if its the only HD in the pc i would recommend 2 partitions, 1 for windows/programs, the other for every thing else.

if its an additional HD for a pc with 1 or more HD's just make it 1 partition.

Partition makes reformatting the drive and reinstalling windows easy. I would recommend 100-150 for OS.(Personally put games on different partition. if you want to put them in the same partition as OS then you might want to make it around 250Gb) Then split the rest into 2 or how many you want.

But only if its for OS i dont see the point for DATA storage!

The OP didn't specify that its not going to be used for DATA. Therefor it is best to split into at least 2 partition. One for OS and one for DATA.

it is absolutely silly to partition a drive just for data/storage. if the data is that important than get a separate hard rive.

Partitioning is usless unless running a SAN over 10Gig
