Looking to upgrade my sound card / speaker setup ..

I was thinking about getting an extigy with the inspire 5.1 digital setup, but am not thinking that the extigy is bad because of high cpu usage and usb bandwidth limitations, right? .. so the alternative is to get an audigy

my setup:

athlon 1ghz thunderbird
640mb ram
geforce2 ddr ultra
40gb hard drive
win xp pro

im pretty sure that i have the VIA chipset on my mobo, is that going to cause a problem with an audigy ? ...

what are some alternatives to the audigy then? i am going mainly for 5.1 surround for dvds , gaming , and then i want good quality for playing back cds and mp3s...

thanks

I'm using the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. It worked wonderfully out of the box. I had a month long email chat with creative trying to get my audigy to work and it never did. It was a month long because it took creative 4 days to get back to me...not exactly very helpful.

There is no alternative to a Creative Labs product...

...unless you want something that actually works right. Check out the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, it's a great card.
