Just make sure your USB ports are all enabled. If you have an older motherboard, this can be an catch 22 issue at times! I used to have an MSI board that disabled the USB ports by default. So if I cleared or reset my BIOS to defaults, I had to dig out an old PS2 keyboard and plug in to enter the BIOS and turn on the USB ports so my USB keyboard would work again!
