I posted here a few days ago with a question about getting started with
buying a turntable. I've selected a Sony PS-LX250H Fully Automatic
Turntable, as it fits my purposes and budget. Now I'm wondering a few
things. One, this model comes with a built-in preamp, but I still need
a receiver, I bet. What's a cheap model that will suit my purposes? Or,
alternatively, is there any way I can use my laptop (an iBook G4) as
one? I've heard whisperings of this possibility. If this is possible,
will I need an adapter cord, and where would I plug it into on my
laptop?
I am not too sure about the hooking it up to your computer. I would find out for sure before you do it so you don't wreck your computer (might not be able to handle the watts the player is putting out) You will need a receiver, I use just a lil RCA from walmart, works great its also hooked up to my tv, its just a basic surround sound system. You can also just find an old receiver for cheap from a second hand store if you don't want to spend the money on a new one.
