okay, in a couple days ill be putting my new rig together.

GIGABYTE GA-7DX AMD-761 & VIA 686B
T-Bird 1.2
1 Gig of SDRam
TNT 2 Ultra
IBM Deskstar 40G ATA133 60GPX
Hercules Fortissomo Gamesound

and was thinking of getting this case at newegg <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=11-127-004&DEPA=1" target="_new">http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=11-127-004&DEPA=1</A> and was wondering if ill have any problems. 300W should be plenty right? also since im using 1G of ram should i stay with Windows 2000Pro or is XP the only OS that properly supports that much ram?

I would get a case with no power supply and then get an enermax, you might <A HREF="http://andrewt1.tripod.ca/ps_goes_boom" target="_new">end up like me using a cheap power supply</A> (even though the computer was off for a long time since it's my backup system)

300W will do, unless you plan to add much HDs and CDROM drives or casefans.
It is best to get a brand PSU like EnerMax.

With a hovering case crashing takes a whole new meaning... :smile: .

Hey, you had a Hivision, too? Same here! <A HREF="http://www.btvillarin.com/ramblings/powersupply/1.html" target="_new">My poofed also</A>. My recommendation stands to get a case without a PSU, then purchase an Enermax in addition to it (of course, unless it's an Enermax case).

if you have also some CDR,CDRW,DVDR or others drives a 300-350 watts Enermax or Antec PSUs shoud be fit your needs.

but IMO, the issue on your rig is not the Case but your TNT2 graphics card.
i think it is the bottleneck of you configuration.

yeah heh the only thing bothered me is the unholy smell lingering, it was good to see how long no name PS can last (not long, just enough to run out of warranty).
