Hi,

My roommate shared his cd drive on the network and I mapped it to a drive on my computer. No matter what we tried we could not get wmp or winamp to play files from it. Winamp would just sit there and wmp would say that the .cda format was not supported. Obviously .cda is supported since I can play the cd on my computer. Does anybody know how to make this work?

Thanks,
MStakem

You cannot stream Music in that fashion. The music when played that way is never proccesed by the computer. Its fed directly into the sound card thought the little stereo pass through cable that connects to the back of a CD-Rom.

*.cda files are just the way a computer interprets and handles audio CDs

You could convert them to MP3s and that would work. Search for CD-ex it works great for ripping tunes off CDs and converting them to mp3s.
