I'm trying to access "Gamespy Arcade" through my DSL shared network. I use a Netgear RT314 router, a Cisco 675 DSL modem and the connection is shared between three computers.
I have info on what "ranges" of ports should be opened, but the Netgear Port forwarding only has about a dozen single ports that can be adjusted (unless I can't see the rest using the web interface) and a field for the server IP address (which I assume is the Netgears IP).
The info I have to access, at least the game I wish to play at GSA (Virtual Pool 3)I will paste below. The info to connect to GSA itself is at:
I'm trying to figure out how to set *ranges* for the router itself to access and the individual port setup. Additionally, I've been told I should set my computer up as the "DMZ Host" and I really don't know what that means.
Here is the Virtual Pool port info for the Lynksys Router...which is in most ways nearly identical to the Netgear:
How to configure a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router:
Under the "Advanced" tab, select "Forwarding". Under the "Service Port Range" enter 60876 into the left box, 60976 in the right box. Under "Protocol" select
"Both". Under "IP Address" enter the last number of the local IP address of the computer you will be using to play Virtual Pool 3. When everything is configured correctly click Apply, and you are done!
wojo, see page 5-6 of the manual, it tells you how to do exactly what you want. It's done almost the exact same way as the Linksys. You would put in the beginning and ending address of the ports (if its just one port begin and end would be the same) and the IP address is the address of the PC you're trying to play the game on.
A DMZ (which stand for De Militarized Zone) is just a PC which had all ports opened up to it, this is not what you need to play the game.
It's always the one thing you never suspected.
