liteon in external closure

Hi

I just bought a lite on 40x cd-rw and placed it in a external firewire enclosure to use in my laptop. The device shows up in my computer and i can use it to read cd's but when nero and a variety of other cd-rw recording programs scan for recorders, it never recognizes this drive as a recorder, only a reader. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm in the same kind of situation. I've bought a USB 2.0 external closure, but nero, easy cd creator and so on find my burner, but I can only write like a half song or so, then it fails... Solutions?

Maybe you can try to write CD at lower speed.
