Nice! That is very interesting. Personally, I would have to go with the corsair xms3000! That stuff is hot!

Nice Article!

Yes, the best of the best does, well the best, but I was impressed with the Samsung PC2700, CAS2.5 memory. Runs at 200mhz with 2-2-2-5-1 timings! This is budget memory that performs!

hey johnny
coursiar also has PC3200, but as far as i can investigate its basically the same stuff, but is rated to get up to 200mhz, at least at cas2.5 (and 185 at cas2 like the PC3000)

When I posted last I didn't realize that the Samsung PC2700 memory outperformed the Samsung PC3000 memory. At least the PC2700 stuff could be run with max timings. The PC3200 memory could outclock it at 220 mhz but with the least aggressive timings. However, even at 166 mhz the PC3200 couldn't be run with max timings while the PC2700 could.

Newegg has the Samsung 256MB PC2700 part for just $80 and it's the same part number as the photo in the article!

If I were buying a KT333 board now I would definitely pick up some of that Samsung memory. However since I won't be building my next system until after summer I can wait and see what develops.

As it looks now, unless Thoroughbred has some surprises my next system will probably be based on a Northwood and (how I hate to say it) RDRAM. (Did I mention, "I hate RAMBUS!"?)

i just want some ddr400 ram to stick into my P4S333...
i flashed the BIOS to P4S533 specs. so i have 533 FSB support and ddr400 support...
my current memory (ocz pc2700) wont overclock to 200 mhz...itll top out at like 170 (166 default)...
im just looking forward to see how my system will perform against a comparable rdram based system.
