Windows 8

hi everyone out there

this is a query for my laptop "toshiba satellite"

i want to upgrade my system to windows 8 right now working on windows 7
and when we insert the windows 8 dvd as normally it shows "press any key to boot from cd or dvd" but and sometimes it doesn't show me even this message also and directly loads into my current operating windows 7 even after selecting the boot option as the "dvd drive"

and if considering the situation that i got the option of "press any to key to boot from cd or dvd" just after pressing the key a black screen is there in front of me and the system is STILL neither the hard disk light is blinking nor the dvd drive light is blinking

and with the same dvd i'm able to boot and install windows 8 on other laptop.

run windows 8 upgrade assistant on your laptop first and make sure its capable and has minimum requirements to run windows 8.

You do hit any key to boot from the CD or DVD right?

i haven't tried the upgrade assistant but the other two options i tired many a times

but lemme see and update the status
