What if your hard drive fails?

So I was going to go out and get 7 and I got to thinking, what if your hard drive fails, and that's the only one in the pc? Does that mean that you have to go out and get another copy of windows to reinstall? Or can you just replace the hard drive with any other one, pop the disc in, reinstall, and take off again? Thanks for anything that you can tell me.

You can replace the hard drive with a different hard drive and reisntall. The windows license is tied to the motherboard, not the hard drive.
