I have experienced problems sending text messages from my T Mobile
phone to some numbers when I pick up the number from my contacts list.
This only occurs on some numbers and there does not appear to be an
obvious pattern.

If I send to the very same number but type the number in manually
instead of retreiving it from the contacts list the problem
disappears.

I phoned SE helpline to discuss and they say that there was a bug in
the phone software and that I can get the problem fixed by visiting an
authorised dealer who will update the software for free providing I am
still in the warrantee period.

The problem is that my phone is now out of warrantee and the dealer
wants a fee for this. Also the nearest dealer is some miles away from
my locality.

Does anybody know if is it possible to get the software update
installed on my phone by downloading to my PC from the net and then
bluetoothed to the phone from my PC ? Or is there another way ?

Please help.

Thanks

That is an early firmware issue, so updating it will fix the problem.

Hope this helps,

There is no way of updating the software (firmware) in your phone without
special equipment that would cost a lot more than what the service centre
would charge.

Oh well, I was hoping for a cheap fix. The phone is due for an upgrade
anyway, moving on to a newer phone may be a cheaper solution for me.

Does anyone know if SE solved this issue on the T630 ?

Thanks.

Yes... The t630 has no problem sending texts, via the phonebook.
