I have a A-Open dvd-rom drive that reads dvds at 6x and cds at 24x. I have no problems with it, just that when it reads certain cds, it spins up really fast. It is also region free.

 :frown:        - What do you want to feel today? :)

I had a Sony 52x CD-ROM once.
It was slow to recognise the disc, slow to spin up, very loud on full spin, especially with slightly unbalanced media and its DAE was Woeful! 14x tops, but usually all over the place.

i get better (and quieter) performance out of my 106S dvd drive and its only 40x with cd's.
