mix and match memory

can I mix a 256m PC2700 with a 512m PC2700?? will this work ok at 768M?

and whats the Deal with my Mobo. that says it can Support 3dimms of 2100 or 2dimms of 2700?? OR WOULD IT SUPPORT A 256, 512, and(512(or 256)) (3dimms) of 2700?

oh...and to answer your question...the motherboard is stable if you run 3 dimms at pc2100 speeds...IIRC...when you bump the speed up to pc2700...the board can only support two dimms because there are stability issues when using more than 2 dimms at a time at pc2700 speeds.
that is if you have a sis645 chip...not sure about any others though

Some say it has been fixed in the 645DX while others say it hasn't, but I can't find any hard evidence to support either claim.
