My wifi just stopped working

i woke up yesterday and noticed my my iphone and my laptop werent connected to my router.....The router shows the wifi icon, but im not connected. Every now and then my phone and laptop will see the router, then i put in my password and then they say "cant connect to my network"......please i need some help.....I was wondering is it possable for the wifi portion of a router to just stop??? Thanks Guys....

was this device provided to you by the ISP?

if so you might have to have them come out and check the router.

and yes it can happen that the wifi goes bad.


if you bought the router and need to replace it, get a separate modem and a separate router.

I don't expect a router or modem to last more then five years, and in most cases that technology is obsolete by then anyway.

call them and see if they replace it for free

Thanks Emerald......They should replace it..im a Comcast Employee...lol.......Being that im able to get on Hardwired, nothing should be wrong with my Computer right??? The problem most likely in the Router???

since both your laptop and your iPhone have problems connecting, it seems most likely to be the wireless of the router that is bad.

nevertheless since you are working for them, after 7 years, you should be able to upgrade to a more up to date equipment.

did you reset the modem or check the router ip config?
