I currently have 512rdram 4x128 and wanted to do an upgrade. I was wondering what is the difference between ECC and NonECC? The ram I'm currently using is NonECC.

I personally use my comp for gaming and 3D design. Any ideas which I should get? I use the Intel I850GB motherboard with P4 1.4ghz chip.

ECC has parity bits to do error checking, it's mainly for important database servers that serve critical financial apps and such. There is a performance penalty, so for your purposes non ECC is the way to go.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

If you want more basic information on memory, I suggest the FAQ at Crucial's web site. It can be a good read.
