My SONY 8X cdrom doesn't work. I now consider to buy a new CDROM or DVDROM.
My computer is K6-2+/500 MITSUBISHI 19" Savage3D 8M.
I'm not sure if my computer can play DVD smoothly.
And now the DVDROM's only usage is to play DVD movie, so few data DVD on market.
Is it worthwhile purchasing a DVDROM? Or just buy a CDROM and wait for the DVD_RAM's price to go down?

most dvd rom drives today have pretty fast cd speeds. Lite-on has a 16x dvd reader and 48x cdrom reader. If one day you feel like upgrading your video card, you won't need to go out and buy a whole new dvd drive to replace your cdrom drive. But if you aren't really going to use your comp for videos or anything like that, go for a fast cd rom... like 52x or 56x.. they'll run you about 30 bucks nowadays if you find a good store.

Jesus may save, but I invest.
