I would recommend a 19in. flat crt monitor, with a refresh rate that can go to 85hz or more and a resolution of 1600x1200. I have the NEC fe991sb-bk. very good gaming montitor, been very happy with it. Good colors, clear picture.

Cripes, 800 bucks for a monitor! Get yourself a beauty. Check out the NEC FP2141SB-BK. It's a 22" Flat CRT. This is a link to it over on Dell's website. They've got it on sale right now for $590USD.

It's capable of 2048x1536@85hz max resolution. Has a .24 dot pitch. It's an aperture grill monitor, so remember that it'll have 2 shadows from the stabilizer wires. If that doesnt bother you, I think this is the best non-professional 21-22" monitor on the market right now.

Get a 21" or 22" monitor if you've got the room. Both have the same visible area. You're going to end up with some serious change if you go with a 19" monitor.
