Has anyone ever had this problem?? Modem dials in...Can surf for a short time and then when trying to access another site, I get the "server is down" or "no server" msg. Sometimes, I'll leave the pc on a site and walk away for 20 mins and when I try to surf once again, the server msgs appear. Many times, if I just drop the connection by right clicking on the modem icon and hit 'disconnect' and then dial back in, it will work properly. Other times I will have to re-boot to dial back in successfully. During all these times when I get the server msgs, the modem always appears to be connected.

Anyone have any clues as to what could be causing this??

If it ain't broke, upgrade it

Do you hear crackling when you're talking on the phone? If so, I believe you're getting line noise and thus a decrease and likely a stoppage of data. I would call your local phone company and have them check the lines. They will probably only guarantee voice and not data but if you hear line noise they will come out and correct the problem.

I can't think of a good signature so I'll use this one.
