I use rechargeable batteries and they last about 3 weeks on a charge. I don't know what you mean about the clicking noise.
The mouse action and buttons are very responsive in games <b>but</b> the wheel has big time lag. It is very comfortable.
I had a black mouse pad and the batteries lasted about 1 week but moving to a light pad makes a big difference. I use mine
on a average of 6-10 hours per day.
