Yeh, with the introduction of D-VHS and DVD-recordable, the only way for JVC to (hopefully) maintain the popularity and market share of its S-VHS decks is to cut price. And that's a good news to us, the consumers.
I guess that begs the question why we need VCRs anymore except to just transfer the tapes to a CD or DVD.
I use to and sometimes still do light shows and project wierd computer graphics like fractals and other psychedelic images on video for local music bands. A combination of live and taped images. I have been doing that since the late 70's, of course back then we used film loops and heavy colored water on overhead projectors and those big betamax video machines.
