4DTV 922 menu item?

Archived from groups: alt.video.satellite.4dtv (More info?)

On my Motorola 922, option 6-4-6 shows HDD Volume Lock Yes/No.
I do have a HDD200 so it's probably important, but what is that item please?

Oh like compression fo when you play CD instead of vinyl!
Is that a good thing in general, it is it just to narrow dynamic range
for folks using the 3" drivers in the TV set
-instead of "real speakers" ?
