My passion is digital audio recording, and the latest round of PC software requires Windows XP.
However, one of my key system components (Adaptec 29160 SCSI card) does not have a manufacturer-provided XP driver. Adaptec indicates that XP ships with a compatible Microsoft driver, but I am wary of using a non-specific driver with such an important card. As such, I don't want to upgrade to XP until a solid driver is available.
Does anyone have any experience with this card and XP?
Interestingly, Adaptec now has an XP beta driver for this card (called "release candidate 1" ), but their XP compatibility table still lists drivers as "TBD". So whether this beta will eventually become an official release is unknown.
If someone has experience with the Adaptec beta driver, this feedback would be welcome as well.
i use them with win 2000 for scanning purposes, no problems with the 2000 ms driver. theres nothing wrong with the drivers that come with windows, usually the manufacturers drivers just add functions they add themselves. this is especially true with graphics and sound. i doubt there will be a problem. if your installing to a drive on the scsi card you have no choice but to use their driver durring setup anyway.
