Wireless adapter for gaming?

So due to my current living arrangements using an ethernet cable for connecting to the internet is out of the question. So I was hoping you brilliant folks here at tomshardware forums might be able to give me suggestions/links for the best wireless adapter suitable for online gaming. I was hoping to go with pci but if there is a usb wireless adapter that is better than pci that you know of then please do let me in on this information.

What kind of router do you have? The slowest piece of the network will be your baseline speed. If you only have a router that transmits in 802.11B then no point in getting a 802.11G or 802.11N adapter.
