I guess this is a basic question but I'm not familiar with ps. All I know is the more watts the better. What feature do I need to look for to see how many case fans I can connect to a ps?

Just make sure it has enough wattage to power all those case fans of yours. You can always get Y-splitters if your power supply does not have enough output plugs.

Thanx for the info arrow. I never thought of y-splitters. The ps will be an enermax651 (550watts). Plenty of room there to handle hardware additions too.

You will be very pleased with that PSU. I have the 651 and it's very
quiet and stable.

thanx bear...you're probably right. I've only read good things about enermax ps. I wanted a very powerful model. The 651 is the most powerful I've seen so far.

bear...how many fan connectors does the 651 have? The mobo I'm considering has 3 (I think) but my case (kingwin kt-436s) can hold 6. Two front..two rear...one side (didn't want one there) and one blowhole.

Is the 651 very noisy? The most powerful PS I've used was a generic 400W, that was like a vacuum cleaner. My fault for not getting a good brand.

Sex is great but its no substitite for the real thing.....

I think the problem with the noise is because it was a generic PSU :)

I agree with Arrow. Some PSU makers use smaller lighter sinks and higher rpm fans to cool.
