I JUST BOUGHT THIS DRIVE 3 MONTHS AGO AND ANOTHER 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO AND NOW THE FIRST DRIVE IS GETTING LOUD A WHINING SOUND ALWAYS THE SAME AND IT IS READING LOUDER ALSO.
THE SECOND DRIVE IS WAY QUIETER AND I THINK IS ALSO GIVEING OFF LESS HEAT ! ANYONE HAVEING PROBLEMS WITH THIS DRIVE ??
MAXTOR 6L060J3 60 GIG 7200 RPM ATA-133 ?? ALSO DOES ANYONE THINK I COULD RMA IT IF IT STILL WORKS THE F%!NG THING IS MAKEING ME DEAF ! GRRRR.

I have had my 80Gb ata133 Maxtor for two months now and have not had any problems with it. My old machine has two 3 Gb Maxtor's in it which are over six years old. My recommendation is to call support. Drive noise can happen with any hdd.

Whippie YAY whoot whoot . I called maxtor and the're gona advance rma a drive for me . I tried to get the fluid dynamic bearing one but she said (bitchey like) " We have no upgrade programs" .... Well soooooooreee lady ! lol I would have coffed up for the 30.00 diff Cdn. for it NfP. But any how new drives in the mail hopefully in 3 days I'll get a sweat new one.

Maxtor+credit card =very fast support !! GRIN

and yeah...that would have been cool to get the fluid one out of this..but oh well.
