Why two nics on motherboard

I have an Asus Maximus Extreme motherboard. It comes with two built in NIC's. I wonder why? Can I get more bandwidth with two? Would'nt I need a second internet isp?

Two LAN cards can be used for Internet connection sharing(make your computer with this motherboard as a router. but u cannot get more bandwidth

You can use one as a backup, or you can connect to two different networks at the same time. if you have a router or switch that does ganging, you might be able to gang the two ports for faster speeds.

Its like a spare NIC that acts like a 1 port hub/switch and will share your computers' internet connection to a second computer if you have limited open ports in your home network.
