Wireless Range Help

Ok, so we are having wifi range problems. our house does have very thick walls and i know that that is a factor but.. I have a linksys e1200 and a linksys wireless n usb adapter on my desktop. went through the setups flawlessly. the router has to be placed at the far end of our house, because the cable company said it was the only place in our house. the desktop is 2 rooms over. it gets about 1-2 bars and is very slow. what is curious is that our macbook gets excellent signal in the same spot.

i am trying to decide what to do. and was wondering if you guys had any tips or help

i was thinking of getting a linkys range extender. and was wondering if that would help..

is the USB adapter connected directly to the computer or are you using a USB cable between the computer and the adapter?

what USB adapter do you use?

have you tried moving the adapter to a different location to see if you get a better signal?
