All,

I'm benching with my memory with different settings using Sisoft Sandra, but haven't seen any major changes. I've tried setting the CL to 2 and 2.5, and tried the least and most aggressive settings with both. End result: Insignificant bandwith changes. I lowered the FSB to 134 for these tests, the default for the board.

My Question: Does the fact that my PC booted with the CL2 and the aggressive timings mean that I'm getting true CL2 results? Also, if I was using true CL2 instead of 2.5 running at CL2, would I see a difference? Finally, I'm getting the feeling that the "bandwith" that I'm measuring might not change regardless of these settings, in which case I'm an idiot. Thanks in advance.

My System:
XP 2000
A7V333 at 134FSB
1x512 Samsung PC2700
80G Maxtor (ATA133, yeah right)
AIW 7500

I suggest using some other benches to see if there are any changes. Sisoft Sandra is not the only thing to show performance changes.

<A HREF="http://www.cs.virginia.edu/stream/ref.html#runrules" target="_new">STREAM</A> is a great benchmark for bandwidth.

Look over <A HREF="http://www.aceshardware.com/Spades/read.php?article_id=157" target="_new">here for Linpak or Cahemem</A>. Go to the middle of the page and click the links.

For memory tweaking software and tracking look at <A HREF="http://www.outertech.com/downloads.php?product=3&PHPSESSID=8b51c1d496f8165f5aecda173d17c049" target="_new">Caheman 5.11 from Outer Technologies</A>.

Sandra can be cloudy sometimes in looking at performance. Using other benchmarking utilities can give you a better look at the changes you make.

I hope that this helps.
