I have a 4dtv 920 with a pink module programmed and now working 100%. At the
cottage I have a Toshiba C band receiver. In the past I would just take my
board from my analog receiver at home and slide it in at the cottage.
I understand I can do the same procedure but leave my 4dtv plugged in and on
G 1 3,WITHOUT A MODULE IN THE RECEIVER AND MY UPDATES WILL STILL OCCUR. is
this correct?? I do have a spare module, not programmed would it help to
slide this one in while away or is it necessary. I guess it would help save
the battery life at best. Comments appreciated.

I use a 905 Sidecar and separate IRD. The 905 only needs to use the IRD to
move the dish. As long as you're pointed at G1, your updates should still
happen.

Your pink decoder is for analog signals, the 4DTV is all digital. One
shouldn't affect the other. You can confirm it by trying your 920 w/o the
pink decoder inserted. If you still receive your authorized 4DTV
programming, you should also get updates.
