Need Help With Router

I got a Alien ware x51, and I really like it, and I want to connect it to the internet. We got internet on our main computer. And my room's about 10-11M away and I thought I might buy a router, my parents don't mind has long as I pay because nobody really needs wireless and everyone uses the main. So i was wondering if you guys could help me pick a router that I can use that will ensure I dont get lags and can play smoothly. Also please comment if there are alternative instead of getting a router.
