Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my problem...

I just recently bought a 256MB Stick that is a PC133. I installed it onto my motherboard that already had another 256MB stick installed.

My problem is that the computer always locks up on anything that is memory intensive like games or internet explorer 6.

I previously had a 128 stick, but i took that out. When I took it out, the system seemed very stable.

If there's any solution to this problem please help out!...

My motherboard is a ECS K7S5A with a 1.2ghz thunderbird running installed.

thanx in advance.

ECS is the problem.

Actually it could be the DIMMS on the motherboard.

1. Try swapping the modules around into different DIMMs.

2. Use ine at a time in each slot to see if it is a single
DIMM or if it is a modules that is bad.

3. Use something to test the memory. Memtest, etc.

This should help you narrow down the problem set, if not find the problem.

OK, I don't know if this is 100% sure, but I think the problem is caused by one of the sticks...

I've tried swapping them and that didn't work, and I also used it one at a time and it ran fine regardless...

The reason why i think it is one of the sticks is that I had to set the timings for the older stick to make the computer stable. But with this new one, it runs fine off the default bios settings...

hmmm... any suggestions?
