Interpretation of Lyngsat info (for Ku frequencies)

For a given satellite, under the heading "Video Encryption", if it
states "DVB", does that mean that it is FTA and can be viewed using
a mpeg2 dvb receiver?

Also under the same heading, if it states "NTSC", does that mean
that it is FTA and can be viewed using a mpeg2 dvb receiver? No
symbol rate is displayed for NTSC?

To be accurate, the term should be "Format"

Yes, DVB means it should be tuneable by a DVB-FTA receiver. If it is
yellow, it is FTA and generally viewable.


There is a colour legend at the bottom of the page that describes what
the colours mean.

If it says NTSC, it is most likely analog.

Thanks Gary. About the analog signal, would a DVB FTA receiver with
a "loop out" port allow a viewer to view the NTSC signal on a TV set?

No, you need an analog receiver to get them.
