Why cant I connect to my printer

I HAVE AN EPSON SX435W WITHOUT THE DISC. EVERY TIME I DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE. MY PRINTER SAYS IT CANNOT FIND THE PC. WHY?

Is you printer wireless? or are you using a usb cable to connect your printer to your pc? what OS do you have? if you have windows 7 after you plub the printer into the computer windows 7 should try and install the printer on its own. if it does that but still doesnt install it, when the window comes up that says to search for the drive or whatever you need to have it open the driver that you downloaded off the internet, since from the sound of it the driver/ software you downloaded doesnt work after installing it?
