I have one MN-700 hooked upstairs to a PC with the DSL modem, works fine. I
want to install another one downstairs in my living room, but there will not
be a PC there (just an Xbox, maybe a tivo, etc). Can I have the downstairs
one simply communicate with the upstairs one to get internet? How do I set
this up? Is this called an access point or a bridge?

I did some digging in the manual, it says I can configure the second one as
an access point. But I don't have a PC downstairs to configure the damn
thing. Can I configure it remotely somehow from my base station?

You can temporarily wire it in to a PC and configure it and then move it...
Not sure you can use an MN_700 in that manner though - I'd have to trundle
through old posts in this ng for that and I have to run... good luck - will
check back later to see how it proceeds. Sorry I cannot help more at the
moment.

As an access point, the second MN-700 needs to be wired to the first MN-700.
You can configure it on any system you'd like, then unplug the power, move
it and plug it into the Ethernet cable connected to the base station MN-700.
You really might want to look into the MN-740 Xbox adapter instead.

use two different IP addresses for the MN-700 and you
should be able to do what you want that way. The two IP's
is so you can get into each one of the MN-700's by them
self.
