Ok, I ust installed a FIC AN11 KT266a Mobo (amd 1900+) and everthing works but my modem (which is in perfect working order) I can not get windows 98 to acccept the drivers. When I boot up it finds the modem and the drivers for it (which i downoaded from the site directly) but after it installs, the modem doesn't work and the 98 wizard can't find a modem on any comm port.
When I go into the device manager under the heading of
HSFMODEM the tab is clicked and there's this -
!Generic PCI Modem Enumerator -
so I click properties and this is what it says -
Device Status: The NTKERN.VXD, CONFIG.VXD device loaders for this device could not load the device driver. To fix this, click Update Driverto update the device driver.
So I do that and it locates the modem and installs the same driver (and won't except any other), restarts and the same thing happens. I'm stumped. I have tried everything I can think of, the only other thing I can find is in the system info., which I have no clue how to fix, is as follows:
-------------
Input Devices
-------------
Poll w/ Interrupt: Yes
Registry: Errors found:
Key 'HKCR\CLSID\{92187326-72B4-11d0-A1AC-0000F8026977}\ProgID' is missing.
I really am stuck here so if you can help please do. I can do everything (I think) but get on internet . I run windows 98, RAID is disengaged and on borad audio is engaged. If you need more info. and think you can help please ask. Thank-you for any and all assistance
1 I need type of modem? Is it hardware or win modem.. I think it is a non-hardware modem because it uses Enumerator (a emulator..)
2 Did you reinstalled win 98? If not I am sure thats your problem... U see internal modems with emulators are the most buggy devises I woked with..
3 Get FCC number from your modem, find your REAL manufacter and get right drivers..
If it dont help, post again I will continue..

Windows identified it as HSF, so yeah it's a win modem. For the cost of a new modem (with drivers on cd), maybe it's not really worth taking to a shop...
