<A HREF="http://www.cdr-info.com" target="_new">www.cdr-info.com</A> has some information on the CRW-F1. They also have an announcement of a new Lite-on 48x24x48.

Here is some interesting information about the Yamaha CRW-F1.

"When the CRW-F1 series is in Audio Master mode, longer pits and lands compared to normal audio mode are written at speeds of up to 8x resulting in the following storage capacities of CD blanks: 650 MB – 63 mins., 700 MB – 68 mins. and 870 MB – 79 mins. " --www.cdr-info.com

Remembering that with convention CD storage 650 MB translates to 74 minutes.

Thanks for the site. Well I like Yamaha because of their features so I don't really care for Lite-on other than their cheap price... And the new Yamaha is going to have the DiscT@2 feature which is gonna be awesome..
Just hope the price isn't going to exceed $400...

I probably should re-read the article but what's "DiscT@2"?
<i>"Revolutionary DiscT@2 Technology Burns Graphics & Text Onto CD-R Disks"</i>

You can see a picture of it at the japanese websites posted above. This is gonna be one heck of a burner.

All the info in english, and a release date of July 15:

That's interesting but only on the unused portion of a disk?

Maybe if it catches on they'll make both sides of a disc burnable.

Sounds like this drive will kick some serious rears. I have the 3200EZ and love it (even if it cost me $50 more than others). I wonder how Yamaha came up with the CD-R brands that the manual suggests to use...

My other computer is a Cray...
