This just started recently...every once in a while the speakers emit a buzz, or type of hum. They're not the top of the line (that Altec Lansing gaming set), and like 3+ years old. Is this a sign they're going bad?

could be...BUT, probably not. More like a sign your wiring or connections are going bad. Possibly even the speakers power unit. Try fiddling with the wiring and see if it makes buzzing or funny noises when you do that, if it does, either rewire it with new wiring or buy new speakers-)

Check ALL your connections first.

Hmm, yea...I think it's a combo of both. :(

One of my rear speakers was getting really quiet, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and it made it better (even though it was already in all the way).
