i just wiped out my system and now my games crash all the time. i just added an ati radeon 8500 but i dont think that is the prob. when the window pops up that tells you you crashed, i check the "details" and everytime the first thing listed is "EAX" something.... uuuummmmm, am i overlooking the obvious? i am now using the "latest" sb drivers for my sb live. (figuring since they are new the MUST be better) i never had problems before.
....the birds seemed to be calling him, thought caw....
This reminds me of the time a friend and I spent 8 hours trying to diagnose why his computer would refuse to boot up. We tried everything from safe-mode to a clean re-install of WindowsXP Pro. Finally, we started yanking components one by one out of the system. After we pulled his SBLive!5.1 everything magically started working again. Curious, so I plugged his SB into my system which was also an XP system. Promptly on bootup the whole system went down in flames, at which point I yanked the card out of my computer all the while screaming, "Demon CARD!!!!"
So I guess the moral of my story is to pull your soundcard out, plug in a different one and see if you still have the same problems. If you don't get any more errors, then you probably know that there is something wrong with that card specifically and not your drivers.
