Weird Router Problems

Hello everybody my internet has been having connectivity issues, like once or twice a day I will go to load a URL and it just won't load, this problem can last up to 15 minutes at a time, however when I unplug and replug my wireless router the URLs load fine and the problem is fixed.

I have a Netgear WGR614 and a Motorola SB4200 SURFboard cable modem and I'm thinking that the router is what's causing this problem because when I restart it the problem goes away.

Will my internet speed/connectivity improve if I get a new wireless router or modem? If so what are some good ones?

your internet speed will improve if you purchase a faster plan from your ISP. make sure your router has the latest firmware. try changing the wireless channel on the router to resolve your issue.

So no reason to get a new router? I upgraded the firmware and my connection works fine now (ethernet) but now devices connected via wi-fi are even worse.

My router is from 2002ish.
