I just recently purchased a Sony SDM-X73 from NewEgg.com and am extremely happy with it thus far. The first problem I've had at all just reared its head today. If you go to the site www.gamecopyworld.com (it seems to be that color blue in the background that causes the issue) you can notice subtle screen flicker (exactly the way that a CRT on a low refresh would look) of just that background color area. I'm connecting the panel via DVI to a ATI All in Wonder 9700Pro. Upon switching to using the DVI to VGA adapter on the 9700 and then using the included VGA cable that came with the panel, running it with this method doesn't produce the same flickering effect, except for the test pattern that comes with the Sony software. On 6500K temp (with the analog cable) that produces NOTICABLE flickering in the top left corner of the screen, but again only on the test pattern thus far. This upper left flicker never occurs in the test pattern when using DVI. So again, with the DVI cable, the flickering appears to only occur on large solid colored areas such as the background of the aforementioned page. The settings I'm using for the Sony are just auto for everything, except for the Gamma which I switched from the default 9300K to 6500K.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this little problem. If it means I'll be forced to run the panel with the analog cable, so be it, though it was nice to use the VGA into my Mac simultaneously with the PC via DVI. Such is life. However, one of the reasons for getting a flat panel was that I COULD use my card's DVI interface.
