Found a set of older JVC stereo eqiptment along the
side of the road today. Yeah! :-)

The CD-S200 cassette tape deck plays and records great.
Rewinds a treat as well. But ... it will not FF. The fly
wheel starts to turn, then stops, then the FF key jumps
to the OFF position JUST AS IF it had reached the end of
the tape.

What would cause this?? Seems like something's binding, but
the rest of the transport works great.

Ideas??

Oh yes, also found a reciever and a turntable I have yet
to investigate. One do wonder Y??

Slipping drive belt or weak motor, if it's like the other instances I've
seen.

Because someone got something new, had no interest in the old, and
decided putting it out for some enterprising soul to pick up was simpler
and more satisfying than trying to find a buyer who'd pay the tiny
amount it's worth.
