I have a marantz cd player CD-75dx.

It won't recognise any cd's insert into the player. Whenever it trys to load
a cd it just displays a red ERROR on the display and thats it.

any ideas on what the ERROR message on the display represents and how to fix
it?

Usually a pickup - they die like flies on the Philips-built Marantz's.
