Acer one wireless connection problelms

Hello,
I recently purchase an acer aspire one. I have the verizon five spot wireless router and cannot connect. Broadband and other wireless networks work fine. When I changed my router setting to OPEN, it then connected. What should I do to connect more securely? Do you recommend a new wireless adapter?

If you are running windows XP or vista then you simply need to update to the latest service pack so it will work with the more secure wpa2 security type
