The SonyEricsson t610 says that it has a standby time of up to 13 days.
Without using my phone my standby time on a full charge is about 3 or 4
days. This phone is brand new.

Where the phone is most of the time the reception is very low, would this be
the reason for the very poor standby time or is this new SonyEricsson t610
defective?

It probably is the reason.

Try also to disable Bluetooth, some older Firmwares were drawing a lot
of power when Bluetooth was enabled.

Because output power on maximum with a poor connection.

Two things.
1). It takes several charge cycles for the battery to achieve full
capacity
2). The biggest impact on standby time is often the frequency of the
network poll, and some operators poll at lot more often than others.

Thanks all for your helpful answers. I am going to exchange this t610 with
another one since I can without any penalty since it is new. My t310 lasts
way longer in standby compared to the t610 which is lucky if it can last 3
days (that with everything off i.e. Bluetooth, magicword, ir and no phone
usage.)

By getting a new one I will be able to tell if this phone is faulty or if it
is normal. Seems strange though that it says that it can last up to 13 days
and then only lasts 3. Should have the new phone with in a week. Will post
the new results. Once again thank you for all your helpful replies.

I have had my new replacement T610 cell phone for a few days now and it is
way better on power. There must have been something wrong with either the
previous phone or battery.

Unless you have it setup with a USB connection, you don't need the software.
