Hi all.
Picked up a pair of Polk Model 9's for their weirdness factor, and can't
find any info on the things anywhere on the net. The design is an odd one -
one side of the tower is loaded with 4 5"(?) drivers & a 10" passive
radiator (they simply left the magnet off a standard speaker basket, and the
coil off the cone), and the opposite side (180 degrees) has a single 5"
driver & one of those obnoxious plastic supertweeters (same as the
Dhalgiuist DQ9's(?)(the ones with 0db/m efficiency & a 5-way crossover & no
bass at any volume).
I've re - foamed the passive radiators, and tried them out. Was there a
magic placement for these things? Awful.
Does anyone know the speaks? Or can point me to a place too look on the
'net? (Polk site has no info on them)
I know that Polk was [at times] too clever by half in their early days,
but i'm into odd gear, and would love to pick up some info on these things.
Would be really grateful if anyone could point me to ref. material or
explain the thinking behind these things.
Thanks,
-dim
